The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), yesterday announced the
killing of about 70 Boko Haram members in its operation in Borno State to flush
out the terrorists group in the North- East. A total of 56, terrorists, were
said to have died during a military ground and air operations in the forest of
Alafa, about 21 kilometers from Bama, in Borno State, while seven others died
on Lake Chad Island.
Two soldiers were also said to have been injured during an
intensive operation that took place over the weekend.
Director, Defence Information (DDI), Major-General Chris
Olukolade, who made this known in Abuja, said the operation became necessary
following an intelligence report about how the terrorists were planning to
establish a new camp in the said forest.
