Esquire Magazine Names Pope Francis 'Best Dressed Man Of 2013'

In a break from the norm, Pope Francis has picked up yet another year-end honor.  Esquire named him "The Best Dressed Man of 2013," chiefly for the symbolism of his papal style choices.

Pope Francis has largely avoided splendor, and is most commonly seen in a plain white robe and skullcap. He chose the simplest papal ring out of those proposed to him, and passed over the red leather shoes that were previously a customary part of papal dress. The humble pope has overseen a great shift in tone for the Catholic Church, and his forthright reforms have garnered him global attention.

"Pope Francis understands that menswear is meant to express the character of the man wearing the clothes," says Mary Lisa Gavenas, author of The Fairchild Encyclopedia of Menswear, told Esquire. She added, "No rapper-style pope wear for him.

Death, it is generally believed, is an inevitable end for all creatures. This year, the entertainment industry has literally been hit at different times by the deaths of some notable celebrities.

In some sense, it has been like a harvest of deaths, writes Mercy Michael.

They are in the eyes of the public. When anything happens to them, the people are always eager to know the details. Their privacy is flung out of the window the moment they become celebrities. Welcome to the world of entertainers, actors, actresses and musicians.

SEE WHAT APC Has To Tell Nigerians In Their New Year Message

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured Nigerians that the party is ready, willing and determined to make all the necessary sacrifices to reverse the prevailing gloomy situation in the country and bring about the much-needed change for the better in the interest of the long-suffering citizens.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Tuesday by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said Nigerians should go into the New Year with an unyielding commitment to be part of ongoing efforts to set the country on the path of growth and development, rather than get into a state of funk on the basis of the cumulative mis-governance of the past 14 years by the PDP-led Federal Government.

APC Finally Gives Tambuwal The 2015 Presidential Ticket?

I think it's good for a top political office holder to emerge APC candidate in 2015 so the Presidency can not in anyway intimidate him with the Police. This will create a level playing field for both PDP and APC.

According to reports, barring any last minute change, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, may have endorsed the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, as the presidential candidate of the main opposition party in the 2015 general election. It was gathered that other presidential aspirants on the platform of the party, including Gen. Mohammadu Buhari, are being persuaded to step down for Tambuwal.

Here's What Nigerians are Saying About Jonathan as 2013 Ends

Reactions have started pouring in over the Presidency’s self-assessment of "unprecedented success" in 2013 by Dr. Doyin Okupe who had claimed that the Jonathan administration had made remarkable successes with key projects executed in the outgoing year. But many Nigerians are saying the claim is a big lie:
"Nobody that has any sense of shame, who believes in Nigeria or has lived in Nigeria, can give this government or this Presidency any pass mark. We have a saying in Hausa: if a man promises a short, you look at the one he’s wearing. The quality of the shirt on his neck will give you an indication that he can present you with a shirt.
"Look at the people who are assessing this man high. Doyin Okupe has never held any other position in government other than as a noise maker."
