The Senate authority on Friday shocked the PDP and its agent, Senator
Ita Enang from Akwa Ibom who had in the past few days canvassing on
behalf of the party that any PDP Senator who decamps to the APC will
lose his seat, automatically.
The Senate has distanced itself from that position. Reacting to the comment by Senator Enang, the Chairman of Senate Committee on Information, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe said it was purely his (Enang) position and not that of the Senate as there was no plan by the Red Chamber to declare seats of PDP Senators that defect to APC vacant.

It would be recalled that Senator Enang had, while briefing Senate press
corps on Thursday, insisted that any senator that defects to another
party would automatically lose his seat.
He made the comment because about 22 aggrieved senators elected on the platform of PDP had indicted their interest to dump the party and join the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The 22 PDP senators may formally decamp to APC as Senate resumes on Tuesday after Christmas break.
