Winning! Who can forget when that phrase (and Charlie Sheen) dominated the Twitter-verse this year? We know we haven’t! Thanks to actor’s such as James Franco (who joined Twitter just in time for his Oscar hosting gig), Ashton Kutcher‘s divorce from Demi Moore, there was no shortage of people tweeting about these particular celebs.

#10 James Franco - James Franco kicked off the year with an Oscar nomination for his performance in '127 Hours'. The actor went on to star in several other blockbuster hits including 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes'. He co-hosted the 2011 Academy Awards with Anne Hathaway and later made headlines as news spread that he was enrolled at several prestigious universities seeking multiple degrees. We can surely call Franco a true renaissance man.
#9 Colin Firth - Early 2011 Oscar predictions set British actor Colin Firth as the favorite to win the award for Best Actor for his performance in 'The King's Speech'. The Twitterverse celebrated his eventual win by adding him to the list of top ten trending topics. Firth also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame later in the year.
#8 Ashton Kutcher - The newest 'Two and a Half Men' star was the talk of Twitter several times throughout the year. Kutcher replaced Charlie Sheen on the hit TV series, called it quits with wife (of six years) Demi Moore and was the subject of Twitter backlash for his premature stance on Joe Paterno's situation. The king of Twitter may have finally lost his reign.
#7 Jake Gyllenhaal - Gyllenhaal began the year with reports that he and rumored girlfriend Taylor Swift had called it quits. The Twitter conversation continued with reports that they they were hanging out again. His movie 'Source Code' was also a big hit at the box office. Whether there's talking of his dating life or his acting career or not, Twitter needs no excuse to discuss his ongoing hotness.
#6 Tracy Morgan - Morgan suffered a Twitter backlash in June 2011 after his homophobic rant while performing one of his stand-up shows. The drama continued when several of his comedian friends took to Twitter to defend the '30 Rock' star. Morgan later issued a public apology.
#5 Pete Postlethwaite - Twitter was a very somber place when Postlethwaite passed away on January 2, 2011. The Oscar nominated British actor was called "the best actor in the world" by director Steven Spielberg. He died at age 64 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
#4 Ricky Gervais - This British comedian caused a stir after hosting the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards where he made many jokes about many of the stars in attendance. In a surprising statement, it was announced that he would return as Golden Globes host for the 2012 ceremony. Gervais also raised questions about a possible new gig when he made a guest appearance on one of Steve Carell's last episodes on 'The Office'.
#3 Ryan Dunn - News of Dunn's passing on June 20, 2011 was one of Twitter's biggest stories of the year. The TV personality and 'Jackass' daredevil died at the age of 34 from an alcohol-related car accident in Pennsylvania
#2 Macaulay Culkin - Aside from participating in a couple of film and music video projects, Culkin had a mostly quiet 2011. His biggest headline-making (and trending topic) moment came with the surprising news of a split with girlfriend of eight years, Mila Kunis. His name also trends with every TV showing of the infamous 'Home Alone
#1 Charlie Sheen - Sheen's famous "winning" catchphrase seems very appropriate for this top spot. The former 'Two and a Half Men' star made headlines all year for his questionable behavior, dismissal from his hit TV series, weird webcasts and more. He was later roasted by Comedy Central on September 19.
