The England winger, who has not scored for over a year, netted the winning goal in the dying moments of an entertaining game in which both sides had their chances.
Martin Skrtel put the visitors a goal ahead but the centre-back also levelled proceedings with an own goal. Jermain Defoe missed a penalty for the hosts before Lennon's late strike in injury time.
"I should score more goals but I’ve had a lot of injuries, so it’s great to get back on the score sheet," Lennon told Sky Sports.
"He [Defoe] was unlucky with the penalty, everyone wanted him to score, he’s been out for a while and I think he’ll be thankful for me after that."
Spurs skipper, William Gallas, was aware of the importance of the strike and he was pleased for his team mate.
"It was difficult for us, but Aaron did a good job and he scored an important goal. We’ve had to fight to win this game."
Gallas also highlighted the effort required to compete in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
"When you play against Liverpool it’s not easy because we’ve played three days before, and today we showed everybody what we can do."
